Colgate Whitening Pen ReviewsThere are various whitening products in the dental market, such as whitening strips, whitening kits, or whitening powder. One of the most significant products nowadays is a teeth whitening pen. As the name suggests, a teeth whitening pen is a thin plastic tube containing whitening gel that removes surface stains from teeth. It also helps to whiten teeth effectively. Unlike teeth whitening kits, it doesn’t need any charging or replacing the battery and is more portable.

Using teeth whitening pens can produce quick whitening results as they mostly use FDA-approved whitening agents. The question arises which teeth whitening pen is functional and worth the money as this technology is relatively new. Many brands have launched their teeth whitening pens, but the brand I trust for teeth whitening pens is Colgate optic because of its reliability and safe ingredients, so here we are going to take a look at Colgate whitening pen review:

Colgate Whitening Pen Reviews

Colgate Whitening Pen

CHECK LATEST PRICE PRICE

Colgate optic white pen performs its action overnight. This pen whitens your teeth in an enamel-friendly way in the comfort of your home. This pen is made of thin plastic and has a push-button on one end like a ballpoint. When you click the back, gel dispenses out, which you can apply to teeth and achieve the perfect smile.

Active Ingredients

The active ingredient used in this product is hydrogen peroxide, an FDA-approved ingredient for teeth whitening. When hydrogen peroxide comes into contact with teeth, it releases volatile oxygen, which penetrates in the enamel and breaks the bond between the enamel and stains. By this method, not only stains but also bacteria are killed.

Anti Sensitivity Pen

Colgate claims that their optic white pen is completely safe for enamel and doesn’t exaggerate any sensitivity. This pen is specifically designed for people with dentine hypersensitivity, gingivitis, or periodontitis. This pen is safe for you, no matter which oral condition you are going through. Just take care that you don’t use it on gums as it may irritate gums.

How to Use a Whitening Pen?

Colgate optic whitening pen is an affordable, easy to use at home option for someone who wants to achieve model like teeth. You can use this one anytime, but it is better if you use it at night before going to bed as this product is designed for overnight whitening; for best application, follow these steps:

  • Open your mouth just like you do when brushing your teeth. Ensure that your upper and lower teeth are exposed and the gel doesn’t touch your lips.
  • Now start applying gel on teeth vertically, just like you are drawing a line with the pen.
  • Protect your gums and avoid applying any gel on your gums or lips. If accidental contact occurs, wash immediately with water.
  • Apply it to your anatomical crown (visible area of teeth) and then leave it for 15 minutes
  • It is best to leave it overnight so the results will be more desirable.
  • First, rinse your mouth with warm water and cold water in the morning.
  • Recommended time to use it is for a week, but you can use it regularly.

Mode of Action

Its active ingredient is 3%hydrogen peroxide, a bleaching agent which is a weak acid with strong oxidizing properties. Because of its acidic nature, it steals electrons from stains. The bond between the stains and teeth is broken down, and stains are removed.

It also provides mechanical cleansing when it comes in contact with catalase and peroxidase in the mouth. In this reaction, oxygen is released in a burst, flushing the debris from the mouth.

Overnight Whitening Brush

During the day, we are constantly eating or drinking things. Even half-hour treatment without drinking water in the daytime feels troublesome, but you can peacefully remain without food and water at night. Colgate understands this and designed an overnight whitening optic pen. Also, the serum is not affected by saliva and is not removed by it. In the morning, brush as usual, and the gel will be automatically removed from the teeth.

My opinion

I am a dentist and dental hygienist. I love to try new dental products and rate them. I can say until now, I have tried almost all enamel-friendly whitening toothpaste, whitening pen kits, pens, and other stuff. When I came across this product, I decided to use it. I was a little worried as my gums were inflamed, but I feel no irritation even after using it regularly for a week.

The pen lasts for one and a half weeks and not for 30 pr 35 uses as mentioned on the box. But in a short duration of one and a half week, my teeth were much brighter and clean. It easily removes the pellicle from my teeth. I also applied a little to the stubborn plaque on the posterior side, and surprisingly it was also removed.

Most of the review was negative because people don’t completely dry their teeth, and it forms clumps on teeth, so make sure that your teeth are completely dry. The solution is tasteless and clumps when it is dry, so it is nothing to worry about.

In the morning, I simply brush my teeth, and all dried gel was removed easily. Overall it was a pleasant experience, and i will recommend this product to anyone willing to whiten teeth naturally.

Positives

  • It whitens my teeth in just a week without side effects.
  • Its taste and smell were not unpleasant.
  • It doesn’t irritate my gums.
  • Easy to apply at-home treatment.
  • Packaging was elegant.

Negatives

  • The box says that it will last for 30 days, but it only lasts 1.5 week.
  • You have to dry your teeth completely. If teeth are not dried completely, it will form clumps and ruin the brush.
  • Some people feel uncomfortable while removing it.
